You will be at the forefront of supporting clients' communication activities by accurately grasping domestic and international media environments and social trends, and through research and the creation of appealing content.

You will also be responsible for disseminating necessary information and conducting negotiations (such as exhibiting at events) as Makaira strengthens collaboration with various stakeholders outside Japan (including government, politics, current and potential client organizations and companies).

It is not necessary to do everything alone; the objective is to achieve success in internal and external projects that contribute to social consensus building, alongside senior members, including the CEO.

Research & Analysis (PR work focus)
Research on domestic and international media coverage, social media, and public opinion trends (mainly in English)
Analysis of communication activities of clients' industries and competitors
Drafting of reports based on analysis results (Japanese/English)
Preparation of meeting minutes (Japanese/English)
Content creation & media relations support
Drafting of press releases, opinion pieces, social media posts, etc. (Japanese/English)
Creation and management of media lists, support for coordination with journalists
Planning and operation support for press conferences and events
Project operation support
Setting up and coordinating meetings with clients
Progress management of tasks and information sharing within the team

Public affairs refers to "strategic engagement activities in the public and non-profit sectors and society undertaken by companies and organizations to achieve their business objectives," as well as "the planning and execution of non-market strategies."

At Makaira, our diverse professionals support a wide range of public affairs activities, from non-market strategy consulting to policy research and policy recommendations, lobbying, inter-sector collaboration coordination, symposium and event planning, media relations, business development, brand development, campaign planning, and various creative productions.

Monday to Friday, flextime system, 8 hours actual work, 1 hour break (flexible time: 5:00 - 22:00).

Required Skills and Experience
- Research and analytical skills in English (surveying domestic and international media, social media, and public opinion trends)
- Experience creating reports, materials, and meeting minutes in Japanese and English
- Experience creating press releases, social media posts, and PR content (in Japanese and English)
- Experience in media relations and communicating and coordinating with reporters
- Experience scheduling client meetings and managing projects

Preferred Skills and Experience
- Public affairs, policy advocacy, and PR experience related to social issues
- Business development, brand development, and campaign planning experience
- International communication experience and experience working with overseas clients
- Ability to manage multitasks
- Experience working in teams with diverse backgrounds (bureaucrats, lawmakers, NPOs, businesses, art professionals, etc.)

- Independent thinker and actor with the ability to proactively disseminate information and engage in negotiations
- Ability to communicate smoothly with internal and external stakeholders
- Comfortable working in both Japanese and English

6 million to 10 million yen, determined based on skills and experience


- Commuting allowance (Maximum of 50,000 yen per month)

Two days off per week (Sat/Sun), national holidays, New Year holidays, paid leave, maternity leave, and childcare leave. *Annual holidays: 120 days (2024 results)
