Public Relations (PR) Consultant — Consultant to Director Level
Makaira’s PR division supports a wide range of domestic and international clients—including major corporations, startups, foreign companies, NGOs, foundations, and local governments—by providing communication strategies related to social issues.
You will work as a long-term strategic partner, involved in cross-sector networking, advocacy planning, and hands-on PR execution.
Main Responsibilities
・Advocacy planning and development of communication messages
・PR activities such as media relations, coordinating interviews, and press engagement
・Cross-sector collaboration, including liaison work with government, academia, industry, NGOs, and key opinion leaders (KOLs)
・Policy monitoring and coordination with the Government Relations team
・Research & analysis, including domestic/international media trends, SNS trends, and public opinion
・Content creation in Japanese and English (press releases, opinion articles, SNS posts)
・Event & press conference support, including planning and operations
・Project management, including client meeting coordination and task progress management
・Information dissemination and stakeholder negotiation, including supporting overseas collaborations

Public affairs refers to "strategic engagement activities in the public and non-profit sectors and society undertaken by companies and organizations to achieve their business objectives," as well as "the planning and execution of non-market strategies."
At Makaira, our diverse professionals support a wide range of public affairs activities, from non-market strategy consulting to policy research and policy recommendations, lobbying, inter-sector collaboration coordination, symposium and event planning, media relations, business development, brand development, campaign planning, and various creative productions.
Monday through Friday: Flextime system with 8 hours of work, 1 hour break (flexible time: 5:00 AM - 10:00 PM, no core time)

Remote work is permitted. However, we encourage employees to work in the office 2-3 days a week.
Must Requirements
・Strong interest in advocacy / public affairs / social issues / policy communication
・Experience in PR / communications / media / editing / journalism / research
・Ability to work with cross-sector stakeholders(government, NGOs, business, academia, media)
・Strong research, writing, and material-creation skills
・Project management and coordination experience
・High motivation to work in a multi-stakeholder, impact-driven environment
Nice-to-Have
・PR agency or corporate comms experience
・Experience in government relations, policy monitoring
・Media relations or journalist network
・Digital PR, SNS operations, web content management
・Background in NGO/NPO, social impact, public policy, advocacy
・Strong analytical/reporting skills

6 million to 10 million yen, determined based on skills and experience
- Commuting allowance (Maximum of 50,000 yen per month)
- Free drinks (use of WeWork facilities)

Holidays: Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays, New Year's holidays, summer holidays. However, the above holidays may be changed due to business circumstances.
