ABOUT THE ROLE
EIRE Systems is seeking an experienced, bilingual Data Center Operations Engineer to take ownership of day-to-day data center and server room operations. This is a hands-on role focused on maintaining the stability, security, and reliability of mission-critical infrastructure while continuously improving service quality and operational resilience.
You will work closely with regional stakeholders across APAC and play a key role in hardware lifecycle management, incident response, capacity planning, and compliance with security and audit standards.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Weekdays 9:00–17:30 (on-call, overtime, and weekend work as required)
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:
In depth understanding of the local/cultural nuances in Japan and bi-lingual capabilities (English and Japanese).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
● Oversee the installation, maintenance, decommissioning, and disposal of data center hardware.
● Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, ensuring stakeholders are informed of changes.
● Identify and implement improvements to enhance service quality, reliability, and resilience.
● Support capacity planning activities including rack space, cabling, and power management across data centers and regional server rooms.
● Monitor events and incidents, taking corrective action through to full resolution.
● Respond promptly to assigned service requests and operational tickets.
● Manage inventory, asset tracking, replenishment, and hardware ordering.
● Configure and maintain out-of-band management tools (e.g. iLO, iDRAC, CIMC).
● Ensure compliance with security, audit, safety, and environmental standards, including NIST media destruction guidelines.
● Participate in disaster recovery drills, including planned and unplanned work outside standard business hours.
● Take part in a rotating on-call schedule and provide overtime coverage as required.
● Take full ownership of all data center and server room-related tasks through to completion.

Essential Skills & Experience
● Bilingual communication skills in English and Japanese, with strong awareness of local and cultural working practices.
● 1-3 years of experience working in an enterprise data center facility; ideally you will have experience supporting data center operations for the banking/finance industry.
● Strong practical experience supporting server/storage/network hardware (including racking mounting, patching, break-fix, connectivity monitoring, etc.)
● Experience with copper and fiber cabling standards and troubleshooting.
● Working knowledge of data center critical infrastructure (UPS, CRAC, fire suppression, electrical distribution).
● Good understanding of IT service delivery and Data Center operations management (e.g. ITIL methodology, incident/change/problem management) and disciplined ticket system usage.
● Ability to lift IT equipment weighing more than 10kg
Desirable Qualifications
● Relevant education appropriate to a senior data center operations role.
● ITIL v3 certification or equivalent.
● Professional data center certifications such as CDCP, CDCS, CDCE, or CDCDP.
● Vendor-specific training or certifications (HPE, Cisco UCS, Dell EMC, Cisco Networks).
